Personal Effects Protection

What is PEP (Personal Effects Protection)?

Avis offers its customers a Protection Insurance for their personal belongings and effects while they are outside of the rented vehicle. The belongings of the renter and any accompanying passengers as well as the authorized additional driver, whose name must appear on the rental contract, will be covered by the Avis Personal Effects Protection (PEP) plan provided by Zurich American Insurance Company.

You may request a copy of the policy at the Avis office where you pick up your rental. While the coverage applies for the entire rental period, the maximum coverage period is 30 consecutive days.

What are the limits of this coverage?

In the United States, the maximum coverage limit for each item during the rental period is USD 1,000.00.

This coverage has a maximum limit of USD 3,000.00 for all belongings during the rental period (USD 2,000.00 in New York).
