Safety Seat

For Avis, your safety is always our priority.

We offer various types of car seats for rent at most of our locations in the United States for a daily fee. Remember, you must return the child seat to the same rental location and in the same condition, or you will be charged an additional fee of USD 50.

From rear-facing and convertible seats for babies to forward-facing seats for toddlers, and booster seats for older children that guarantee the highest safety for your little one.

We recommend the following guidelines when choosing seats for babies and children on your next rental:

  • Up to 1 year old (up to 9 or 10 kilograms) Rear-facing vehicle seat for babies only, convertible or 3-in-1 seat.
  • 1 to 3 years old (from 10 to 18 kilograms)Rear-facing seat up to the maximum height and weight limit allowed by the manufacturer.
  • 4 to 7 years old (up to 120 cm of height)Forward-facing seat up to the maximum height and weight limit allowed by the manufacturer.
  • 8 to 12 years old (over 120 cm of height)Booster seat with lap and shoulder belts up to the maximum height and weight limit allowed by the manufacturer.
  • Big Kids (18 to 36 kilograms or over 120 cm of height)The government of the United States recommends that children from 18 kg to 36 kg, with around 145 cm of height, remain seated with a booster seat for the seat belt. A booster seat will allow the adult safety belt to secure them from their shoulders/lap and be positioned correctly and safely to offer better visibility and comfort.

What is LATCH and why is it so important?

We have adopted the LATCH system as the standard for installing child safety seats. The Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) initiative is a standard for child restraint systems designed to reduce the risks of improperly installed seats using connectors in the anchors.
