Age information

The minimum age is 21 for all car groups.
An underage fee of USD 7.50 per day will apply for renters 21-24.

Maximum age

The maximum age is 65 years.

Credit Cards

An International credit card on the renter’s name and accepted by Budget will be required at the time of rental. Budget will request a pre-authorization on the credit card.
The pre-authorization is determined and varies according to the responsibility waiver selected and the type of vehicle rented.
While this hold is in place the funds will not be available for use. When the rental is over Budget will process the reversal but the bank may take time to post it back to the account.
Budget Jamaica accepts American Express, Budget charge cards, Diners Club, Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa.

The minimum credit card hold is the total estimated cost of the rental plus the following depending on car group rented (see Waivers for additional information):

Car Groups: A, B, C, D, E
Hold amount in USD: 500.00

Car Groups: F, G, J, M, O
Hold amount in USD: 1.000.00

Car Groups: I, K
Hold amount in USD: 2.000.00

Car Groups: H, L
Hold amount in USD: 2.500.00

Car Groups: XI
Hold amount in USD: 4.500.00

Car Groups: XG, XH
Hold amount in USD: 5.000.00

Driver's License (Physical)

At the time of rental, the driver must present a passport and a valid driver’s license in the driver’s name from his/her country of residence. Customers presenting a driver’s license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid driver’s license.

Debit card

Debit cards are not accepted.

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver’s license requirements as the renter.
The additional driver fee is USD 3.00 per day.
Additional drivers 21-24 will be charged the underage fee in addition to the additional driver fee

Important

Budget and Budget licensees reserve the right to refuse any request for rental including requests for persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or persons who, in the opinion of Budget, constitute a risk.

Insurances & Coverages

LDW - Loss Damage Waiver

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional. Purchase reduces the renter’s financial responsibility for damages to the Budget vehicle as a result of accident, vandalism or theft while under the rental contract. Theft protection is included in the purchase.

The amounts shown below reflect the renters financial liability/non-waivable excess (NWE) as a result of damage or loss to all or part of the vehicle.

In case of accident and LDW is declined, the customer could be responsible for up to the full value of the vehicle. The entire cost of repairs will be charged to the credit card.
If LDW is accepted the customer is still responsible for the NWE and the credit card will be billed regardless of who is at fault.
An additional charge card hold will apply.

Additional charges

Fuel and Electricity Charges

A full tank of gas is provided at the time of rental and the vehicle should be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid additional charges.
Fuel options in Budget Jamaica are the following:

✓ Pay in advance for a full tank of gas and return it empty.
✓ Vehicle rented with a full tank and returned with a full tank.
✓ Refueling charge applicable when vehicle is returned with less fuel in the tank.

Refueling charge may result in a rate higher that the local retail gasoline price and is subject to taxes and fees.
If you have refueled please keep your receipt for verification purposes.

Additional information

One Way rentals

Cars can be returned to other Budget locations in Jamaica based on car availability. A one way fee may apply.
Vehicles are not available for one-way rentals outside of this country.

Driving restrictions

Cross the border

Budget cars rented in Jamaica are not allowed outside of the country.

Child Safety Seats (CSS) are available for USD 6.00 per day.

Navigation system (GPS) is available for USD 12,00 per day.
