Age information

The customer must be at least 18 years old to rent at this location.
No maximum age limit.

If the customer are between 18 and 25 years old, must pay a young driver surcharge of EUR 32,50 per day.
The maximum young driver surcharge per rental is EUR 325.00

Credit Cards

The renter will be required to present an international credit card at his name accepted by Budget at the time of rental.

We do not accept Digital Payment Cards.

Please note that the credit card must have the renter's name and numbers embossed on it.

Driver's License (Physical)

Each driver must show photographic proof of identity and their passport at the start of the rental.
All drivers must present a full and current driving licence which has been held for at least 1 year.

Please note that the credit card must have the renter's name and numbers embossed on it.

For car groups F, M, O all drivers must present a full and current driving licence which has been held for at least 5 years .
The licence must be valid for use in the renting country. If you hold a licence issued outside of the European Community you will be required to produce an International driving licence.

We do not accept digital driving licenses.

Debit card

Debit cards are not accepted.

Additional Drivers

All additional drivers must meet Budget age, driving license and ID requirements. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.
The cost is EUR 9.17 per day up to a maximum of EUR 110.00

Hold Amount

A bank pre-authorisation will be requested upon collection of the vehicle equivalent to the estimated amount of your rental with an additional EUR 110.00 charge, as well as the cost of a full tank of fuel. For the categories F, M and O, a second bank pre-authorization will be requested, the amount of which is as follows: EUR 2000 for car group O, EUR 3000 for car group F and M.

Smoke free cars

It is against the law to smoke in public places in France. The vehicle is considered a public place so it is not allowed to smoke in it.
If Budget believes that anyone has smoked in the vehicle during the rental period, a Specialist Cleaning Charge will apply.

If the interior of the vehicle is especially muddy, dirty, stained or smelly, and Budget standard cleaning procedure will not fix it, renter will be charged a Specialist Cleaning Charge of EUR 120,00

Important

Budget and Budget licensees reserve the right to refuse any request for rental including requests for persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or persons who, in the opinion of Budget, constitute a risk.

Insurances & Coverages

CDW - Collition Damage Waiver

If renter has purchased Damage Waiver (CDW) and the vehicle, keys, any accessories or any vehicle documents are damaged, the amount he has to pay if the vehicle is damaged during the rental will be reduced to no more than the excess stated on the rental agreement meaning he’ll pay for the cost of repair or replacement, whichever is less, plus the damage processing fee.

In most cases, Damage Waiver (or CDW) is provided with the vehicle as standard. If it’s included, it will be stated on the rental agreement. If it isn’t included, the price depends on the vehicle and the rental location.

TPL - Third Party Liability

Third Party Liability (TPL) covers drivers in case of damage, including damage to passengers and their property, when using an Budget France vehicle.

Third party liability is included in the rental price.

Maximum coverage in case of damage to property is EUR 100.000.000
Maximum coverage in case of personal injury is Unlimited.
Maximum coverage in case of death is Unlimited.

TP - Theft Protection

If Theft Protection (TP) is not purchased or is not included in the rate, in case of theft the customer will be responsible for the total value of the rental car, keys, any accessories and any vehicle documents plus our loss of use and an administrative fee.

If a liability reduction for the event of theft (TP) is purchased and the vehicle is stolen, the amount that the renter will have to pay will be limited to the excess stated on the rental agreement plus a fee for the processing of the event of damage or theft.

If any optional extras are lost or stolen, the renter will have to pay for the cost of replacement in addition to the rental fee.

TP coverage may be included in the rate booked. If it isn’t included, its price depends on the vehicle rented and the rental location.

The excess will not apply and the renter will have to pay the car’s full value if the loss or theft was caused by or as a result of:

Keys being left in the vehicle.
Keys being lost or stolen.
Using the vehicle in breach of the contract.
If renter does not provide Budget with the receipt acknowledging that he has filed a complaint with the relevant authorities.

SCDW - Super Collition Damage Waiver

Super Damage Waiver (SCDW) is an excess reduction product which reduces the excess to zero except for vans in case of accidental damage to the rented car.
Renter can purchase this coverage when starting the rental if it is not included in the rate.

Super CDW does not cover glass breakage, the upper part of the vehicle body, or the vehicle's underbody. The price depends on the vehicle and location.

What happens if the customer damages any optional rented extras?
If any optional extras are damaged, renter has to pay for the cost of replacement, or their estimated repair costs in addition to the rental fee.

Are there any times when the excess would not apply?
The amount that renter pays will not be reduced if the damage was caused deliberately or by gross negligence – or as a result of:

Water or fire damage that was not his fault.
Driving the vehicle without due care and attention.
Driving or using the vehicle in breach of your contract.
Breaching a contractual obligation (for example not calling the police in the event of a damage)

What does renter have to pay if the excess does not apply or if he doesn´t have Damage Waiver?
If the vehicle, keys, any accessories or any vehicle documents are damaged during the rental, he’ll have to pay:

Either the cost of replacement, or the estimated repair costs – whichever is cheaper.
Plus our loss of use.
Plus an administration fee.

PAI - Personal Accident Insurance

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) covers the driver of the vehicle in the event of an accident, and in addition the luggage and personal belongings of the driver of the vehicle in the event of damage, theft or loss.

PAI provides the following benefits:

The maximum coverage in case of disability (per person) is EUR 20,000.00
The maximum coverage in case of death (per person) is EUR 20,000.00
The maximum coverage in case of damage, theft or loss of luggage and personal belongings is EUR 2000 per vehicle, within the limit of EUR 250 per item and with an excess of EUR 150 per vehicle.
The maximum coverage towards emergency medical expenses is EUR 1000.

The cost per day is EUR 7.48

Additional charges

Fuel and Electricity Charges

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at the start of the rental.
To avoid refuelling charges please return the car with a full tank of fuel.

If the fuel tank is not full we will fill the tank and charge you for the fuel.
Fuel is charged at EUR 2.98 / litre (amount subject to change without notice) per litre for diesel and EUR 3.24 / litre (amount subject to change without notice) per litre for unleaded with an additional re-fuelling service charge of EUR 14.50.

EZ FUEL Fee
Where you have driven 75 miles or less there will be a flat fuel fee of EUR 12.00 (regardless of whether the fuel gauge shows the fuel tank as full) unless you can prove the vehicle has been refuelled by providing a refuelling receipt from a petrol station.

Additional information

Late / Early return charge

Unless agreed differently, all customers must return the vehicle and any optional extras at the time/date and location stated on their rental agreement.

If the customer believes they will be late, it is in their best interest to request an extension from us.If the customer is then late in returning their vehicle ,they must pay for an extra day's rental for the vehicle and any optional extras plus a late return processing fee for each day/part of a day they are late.

The late return administration fee is EUR 15.00 per day.

One Way rentals

Some rental locations let renters collect the vehicle and any optional extras from one rental location and return them to another.

The price depends on the rental location and the car group rented. If renter wants to pick up the vehicle and return it to a different location in France or in another country, an additional fee applies.
The cost will be informed when making a reservation.

Driving restrictions

Cross the border

Budget cars rented in France are permitted outside of borders, with restrictions.

Renters are covered by third party liability insurance only when they use the vehicles in the country listed on the insurance green card. Additional coverages only apply when the vehicles are used in the countries listed below.

Renters are only allowed to use the vehicle in the following countries:

Travel into Switzerland: All vehicles driving on Swiss highways must purchase a special tax sticker (Swiss Hwy. Sticker). Cost is SFR 40.00 and is available for purchase at the border crossings. Customer is subject to a fine of SFR 100.00 if caught without the sticker.

Travel into Austria: All vehicles driving in Austria must have a Toll Sticker that can be purchased at the border. The Toll Sticker is available for specified length of use, with a minimum one-day purchase. Fines for neglecting to purchase the Toll sticker start at EUR 200.00

Travel into Italy: Mercedes vehicles cannot be driven into Italy.

Circulation restrictions

Certain areas have congestion charging zones meaning renter needs to pay a fee if he wishes to drive in certain areas, on certain days and during certain times. In addition, there are toll roads and toll bridges which require to pay to use them. If customer does not pay these charges before he enters such areas or use such roads or bridges, he will incur a fine.

We recommend checking the Internet to find out about any restricted areas before traveling. Websites such as Urbana Access Regulations provide useful information. If the rental location is in or near a restricted area, we will tell customer about it when he picks up the vehicle. We are unable to tell him about any other restricted areas.

Optional services and equipment

Child Safety Seats

Please note: In France, all children must normally use a child car seat until they’re 10 years old.

Budget France offers baby, infant, child and boosters seats.

(CSS) (Child Baby Seat) is typically suitable for a child from birth to 12 months old and weighing no more than 13 kilos.

(CIS) (Child Infant Seat) is typically suitable for a child aged 9 months to 4 years old and weighing between 9 and 18 kilos.

(CCS) (Child Seat) is typically suitable for a child aged 4 to 11 years old and weighing between 15 and 36 kilos.

(CBS) (Child Booster Seat) is typically suitable for a child aged 8 to 11 years old and weighing between 20 and 45 kilos.

Remember, it is always the renter’s responsibility to check the seat is fitted correctly before you drive away.

The fee for renting a seat is EUR 10.00 up to a maximum of EUR 70.00

If the seat is damaged, lost or stolen, renter will have to pay for a replacement.

GPS

Most Budget locations offer GPS. The fee for renting is EUR 14.00 per day up to a maximum of EUR 168.00.
If the GPS is damaged, lost or stolen, renter will have to pay for a replacement.

Please note: In some countries, including France, it is against the law to use a GPS that tells where speed cameras are. It is illegal in France. If you rent a GPS from Budget, it won’t give you speed camera information.

Travel Partner

Travel Partner gives you access to a translation service over the phone. Travel Partners translators can speak directly to the person you’re trying to talk to in English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian or Gulf Arabic, and will ensure that everything is clearly understood.

Offers support and assistance with the reporting and investigation, and can help to trace lost luggage, including liaising with the airline and providing twice daily updates.
Use Travel Partner to report the loss or theft of mobile phones and tablets.
Can help to report all lost or stolen credit, debit and charge cards and advise on the best procedure to follow.
Provide the telephone number, address and opening hours of the nearest embassy or consulate as well as offer support on the processes for arranging a replacement passport.
Find addresses or contact information for local restaurants, hotels, hospitals or museums.

The fee for this service is EUR 9.00 a day.

RSN - Roadside Assistance

Breakdown service is available free of charge for mechanical and technical breakdown.Charges may apply for parts and labour unless RSN is taken.

Roadside Assistance Plus (RSN Plus)

The cost is EUR 5.00 per day.

Mobile Wi-Fi

Budget France offers Mobile Wi-Fi devices. We provide this service on behalf of a third party, so renter will need to read and agree to separate terms and conditions with them. Budget will provide these terms and conditions at the rental location.

The fee for hiring mobile Wi-Fi will depend on the rental location, but it is usually EUR 10.00 a day on top of the hire fee.

If the sim card or any mobile Wi-Fi accessories are damaged, lost or stolen, renter will have to pay for a replacement.
The costs of this are expected to range between EUR 5.00 and EUR 15.00 plus the rental costs.

Please note: In many countries, including France, it is illegal to drive while using a handheld mobile phone, tablet or other communications device. It is customers’ responsibility to drive safely and according to the laws of the country they are driving in.

Winter equipment

If the rental location customer is hiring from is in an area where it’s illegal to drive without all- weather tyres at certain times of year, the vehicle will automatically be supplied with them – and the fee will be included in the rental fee or contract.

Renter can also opt to book a vehicle equipped with all-weather tyres, and the fee will be included in the rental fee or contract.

If the rental location customer is hiring from is in an area where it’s illegal to drive without Snow Chains or all-weather tyres at certain times of year, the vehicle will automatically be supplied with snow chains – and the fee will be included in the rental fee. He can ask not to have these but we recommend taking either snow chains or all-weather tyres at these locations.

Snow chains are also available in some other rental locations. The fee for snow chains is EUR 12.00 per day up to a maximum of EUR 60.00.

If any snow chain is damaged, lost or stolen, renter will have to pay for a replacement pair.

Some rental locations offer Ski Racks.

Ski racks can’t be fitted to all our vehicles, so customer might need to upgrade if he needs one. This may increase the price of the vehicle and any excess he would have to pay.

If the ski rack is damaged, lost or stolen, renter will have to pay for a replacement. The costs of this are based on the replacement value and based on experience, it is usually about EUR 250.00 and EUR 500.00, on top of the hire fee.

Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you want to hire a ski rack.
